How does the procedure work?

1. Consultation and examination - the urologist assesses whether the method is suitable for you (state of health, blood-thinning medication, current inflammation, etc.).
2. Preparation and anaesthesia - usually local anaesthesia.
3. The procedure itself - the doctor applies the stapler, removes the foreskin and closes the wound with staples.
4. Short observation and going home - you receive instructions for hygiene and follow-up.

Who is the method suitable for?

• Men with a narrowed foreskin (phimosis), recurrent inflammation or for hygienic or aesthetic reasons.
• Adults and adolescents (based on the doctor's assessment and the consent of legal guardians).

How to care for the wound after the procedure

• Hygiene: keep the area clean and dry; a shower is usually possible the very next day after the procedure.
• Pain and swelling: mild tugging or swelling after the procedure is common. Over-the-counter painkillers recommended by your doctor will help.
• Activities: temporarily limit physical exertion, cycling and sexual intercourse - your doctor decides when you can return to them.
• Follow-up: keep your follow-up appointment; if anything is unclear, contact the clinic sooner.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Does it hurt?
Local anaesthesia is used during the procedure. With the stapler the procedure takes a relatively short time, which makes it all the more comfortable. Once the anaesthesia wears off you may feel some sensitivity or tugging, usually very manageable.

When can I go back to work/school?
For office work often within 1-2 days; for physically demanding work later. Your doctor decides the exact timing.

When will the staples fall off or be removed?
It depends on your state of health and the speed of healing. Your doctor will tell you whether they will fall off on their own or be removed at the follow-up.

Will a scar remain?
A fine line is natural. With proper care the result is usually aesthetic.
